IRCTC Users Alert : Don’t download these android applications

IRCTC, Indian Railways official ticketing platform issued an official advisory for all its users in the country. In this latest released advisory, IRCTC is asking it’s users not to download a distrustful android application called irctcconnect.apk.

IRCTC mentioned that this suspicious application is promoted by some unknown sources on WhatsApp & Telegram. If any one install this application on their smartphone, it will badly impact your device.

IRCTC is also claiming that the hackers are using this malicious application to steal personal and critical information such as Banking information, UPI details and many more other information. Users should be cautious while downloading any unknown application, it is recommended to download application form trusted sources only.

Dear Customers,

It has been reported that a malicious Android application (irctcconnect.apk) hosted on phishing website (https://irctc.creditmobile.site) is being circulated over instant messaging platforms e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. This android app (APK file) is malicious and infects the mobile device. These fraudsters are sending phishing link in mass level and insisting users to download this android application, impersonating IRCTC official to trick victims into revealing their sensitive net banking credentials like UPI details, credit/debit card information etc.

In view of this, you are advised that please do not install this application and keep yourself safe from such fraudsters. Always download IRCTC’s authorized ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’ mobile app from Google Play Store or Apple Store.
